The World Games 2022 | Birmingham, USA

This year I traveled to two international competitions, both of which happened to be in July. One thing I’ve learnt about growing up, is that time off is hard to come by while being full time employed, even if it is by an airline! It’s not as easy to travel the world when you have limited days off unfortunately.

On July 11th, I set off for Birmingham, Alabama to take part in the World Games 2022. The World Games was an 11-day international multi-sport event organized with the support of the International Olympic Committee. There were over 3,600 elite athletes from over 100 countries competing in more than 30 of the fastest growing sports in the world.

There were 11 ladies in my category Women’s Wakeboard Freestyle, with athletes from all over the world such as New Zealand, Japan, Sweden, Argentina and Ukraine.

It was so amazing to compete with these women again, especially after Covid and not seeing everyone for so long! Unfortunately I did not make it through qualifying and went into the Last Chance Qualifying Round. For me, the competition proved too tough to make it to finals, but this is how it goes when your competing with the top ladies in the world! The experience here was amazing, and it was an honour to even be invited to such an incredible event!
